About the Artist

Black and white portrait of a young woman with braided hair, wearing a textured blanket, looking into the distance in a dimly lit setting.

Zeta Vargas is a Christian native artist. Her love of art started at a young age amidst messy finger painting and failed pottery attempts. Much of her early years were spent in nature while her mother taught her of her ancestors. As her appreciation for God’s creations expanded so did her love for art through which she felt she was able to connect to the Creator.

Many trials made it difficult for her to accept her ancestry, but with time she came to embrace her heritage with honor. Through her art she became a storyteller, each flower and marking symbolizing weakness and strength, sorrow and joy. Each piece carries perfect imperfections that have been transformed into details that breathe life into her artwork.

For Zeta, art is not only storytelling and a form of honoring the Creator, but also a meditative experience that brings peace and stillness in a hectic world. She hopes to share the quietness that can come from seeking to read the stories art tells.
