A True Sister

Blood is thicker than water,

or that’s what they say.

The day that I was alone,

you came to my side.

When family couldn’t lift me,

you I came to see.

You became my true sister

that sorrowful day.

A day filled with broken hearts

and oceans of tears.

As we knelt at my bedside,

quiet tears streaking our cheeks,

I felt His presence near us

and fears washed away.

From Him, my dearest sister,

I knew you had come.

Though we do not share our blood,

I will not forget.

All for me that you had done

with the purest love.

Blood is thicker than water,

and while that is true,

It’s not truer than the love

I hold dear for you.

“For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.”- Matthew 12:50.
